What Separates a Great Window From a Cheap One?

Three things decide whether a window will still be tight and quiet in 15 years. Most sales pitches skip over all of them.

Section 01

Vinyl extrusion

This is the frame itself - and it's one of the easiest places for window companies to quietly cut costs.

Some companies spend heavily on advertising and make up for that expense by choosing cheaper extrusions and lower-grade materials. We take a different approach.

Whether it's vinyl, fiberglass, or aluminum, we don't choose products based on what saves us the most money. Over the last 15 years, we've built relationships with leading manufacturers in each category because we'd rather deliver a window we're proud to install than make a few extra dollars by cutting corners.

Glass

Our windows don't use ordinary glass. We use Low-E 180 or Low-E 272 glass, depending on the application. These specialized coatings are designed to control how heat passes through your windows - something standard clear glass simply can't do.

Low-E 180 is designed to allow more of the sun's natural heat into your home while still improving insulation, making it useful when you want to take advantage of solar heat gain. Low-E 272 provides greater solar control, reflecting more unwanted heat back outside during the summer while helping keep your home's heat inside during the winter. Both options also help reduce the amount of UV radiation entering your home, protecting flooring, furniture, and finishes from fading.

Between the panes, we use argon gas rather than ordinary air. Argon is a colourless, non-toxic gas that transfers heat more slowly than air. Filling the sealed space between the panes with argon helps reduce heat loss, improves the window's overall energy efficiency, and keeps the interior glass surface warmer during cold Canadian winters.

The result: a window that helps keep heat inside during the winter, outside during the summer, and your home more comfortable year-round.

Installation

A great window is only as good as the installation behind it.

We use high-quality closed-cell spray foam to properly insulate the opening, professional-grade exterior caulking that creates a lasting seal without discolouring after a year, and proper interior sealants designed to keep your trim looking clean without cracking the moment we leave.

If you ever have a question or something doesn't look right, you have the number of the people who actually installed your windows - not a call centre, not a customer-service department, and not some office that has never stepped foot in your home.

We install it. We stand behind it.
